We at Thanet Archery Club are a friendly and social group of people. Archery is one of the few sports where anybody, no matter how old they are, can take part and we have members ranging in age from eight years old to nearly seventy. Disability is not a problem either with wheelchair and visually impaired archers regularly taking part alongside able bodied archers both at club level and in competition.
Thanet Archery Club was formed over forty years ago and, despite many ups and downs during that time, is now one of the largest in Kent.

The picture above is of field number one, where you will find us shooting target archery at distances ranging from 40 - 100 yards and 30 - 90 metres.

This picture is of field number two. An extremely long field that enables us to do clout shooting which, it is alleged, comes from the practice of showering the enemy with arrows in battle. A target is marked on the ground at distances of 180 yards for men and 140 yards for women from the shooting line with brightly coloured 12" square flags at the centre and placed as close to the ground as possible. The radius of each circle of the target is 18", 3ft., 6ft., 9ft., and 12ft and score 5, 4, 3, 2, 1 respectively.
